I’ve always found Carnahan to be a decent pulp-influenced director – In fact, he’s been amassing quite an amount of fans these last few years. Good on him; His style is strongly influenced by both Tarantino and Michael Bay, but he still manages to bring out his own voice to the mix. He’s almost like a 21st century version of Peckinpah but injected with a mass amount of steroids. It was revealed on 08.22.22 that Coppola had received tax credits from the California Film Commission. It wasn’t mentioned for what film and when it would shoot, but now we know. I should hopefully be getting plot details on “Domino” next week. Coppola’s last film was 2020’s “On the Rocks,” and, before that one,” 2017’s “The Beguiled,” which won her the Best Director prize at Cannes. According to Deadline, the story behind the invention of Viagra will be tackled by Lee, and, not just that, it’ll be told via the musical genre. Tackling the discovery of that little blue pill, the screenplay will be written by Lee and Kwame Kwei-Armah. The passing of the great Donen should not go unnoticed, hell, not only did he live a gloriously extravagant life as a maestro of the musical but he was dating director Elaine May (“A New Leaf”) until his very last day on earth. Bless his heart. Donen brought color, and lots of it, to the Hollywood musicals of the late ’40s and ’50s, with his peak probably beginning with 1949’s “On The Town” (the first location-based musical), and peaking with 1952’s “Singin’ in the Rain,” one of the greatest movies of all-time....

Oscar voters have decided to go the political route because, truth be told, there isn’t really a movie this year that any of the voters could gather around and embrace the way they have with past Best Picture winners....
As it currently stands, ‘Ricardos’ has a paltry 60 on Metacritic and a 68% fresh rating on Rotten Tomatoes — not to mention audiences haven’t been too keen on it either, a 6.6 on IMDB is skimp stuff. What other Best Picture nominees have come close to these low numbers? Well, the two obvious titles that kept popping in my head were 2011’s 9/11 weeper “Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close” (a 45% on rotten Tomatoes and 46 on Metacritic) and “Bohemian Rhapsody” (60% on Rotten Tomatoes and 49 on Metacritic)....
