The doc seems to be a mix of priceless archival footage of the tour, both on and off-stage, and features a candid Dylan interview, which is being touted as his first in over a decade. Scorsese is no stranger to the artist, he probably directed the greatest Dylan documentary ever put to film: “No Direction Home.” That film covered his rise in the Greenwich Village folk scene during the early ‘60s all the way to his infamous motorcycle accident in 1966 (which prompted him to become a recluse and not record music for a good 19 months, but, more, importantly, retiring from live perfvormance for a good 8 years)....

The film stars Kate Lyn Sheil who is joined in the cast by Jane Adams, Kentucker Audley, and Chris Messina. NEON acquired it immediately after it won raves at SXSW and are convinced they could pull off a theatrical release, set for July 31st. Regardless of it all, “She Dies Tomorrow” is also set to land on VOD on August 7. A good chunk of Pixar and director Pete Docter’s “Soul” is set in the serene nirvana called The Great Before. The surreal nature of this afterworld, with its soft, glowing edges and inviting colors, is populated by Don Hertzfeldt-esque stick figures who go by the name of Counselors, omnipotent God-like beings reminiscent of Hertzfeldt’s minimalist style and the friendly UFO’s in Spielberg’s “Artificial Intelligence.” In this the 23rd feature-length endeavor for the toon wizards over at Pixar, Joe Gardener (Jamie Foxx), a failed jazz pianist, steps into a New York City pothole, and dies, just as he is about to finally get his big break, a chance to play in the ensemble of a famous saxophonist (Angela Bassett)....

After going for depth and gravity with his last two triumphs, “Only Lovers Left Alive” and “Paterson,” writer-director Jim Jarmusch stumbles with his latest, the slight zombie comedy, “The Dead Don’t Die.” This rural-America-set zombie statement has shades of George A Romero; hell, the Zombie godfather is even mentioned a few times in the script. The film also has Jarmusch’s usual dry, droll and deadpan-infused humor as an added bonus....

The wait may finally be over as “Wendy” is being test-screened this coming week in the West Coast. Does this mean the film has been submitted to the fall festivals? I would think so. We are likely to catch Zeitlin’s film in the coming months. Franz Rogowski stars as Georg, a German in Paris, trying to escape the constraints of a totalitarian regime rounding out Jews, although the film only hints at that, and refugees without travel papers. “Why are you still here,” a man asks Georg, “Paris is being sealed off,” he replies. That’s the closest we get to the nitty gritty of the occupation. In Paris, Georg is asked to bring identity paper to a writer named Weidel....

With all that said, If the synopsis of “Yesterday” sounds like an absolute blast on-paper then, hate to say it, it doesn’t meet those expectations on-screen. By now you must have surely seen the ads; failing singer-songwriter Jack Malik (Himesh Patel) wakes up one morning, only to learn that The Beatles never existed and, more importantly, their rich catalogue of songs his for the taking.
