Social media is abuzz about why production on Aziz Ansari’s “Being Mortal” has been indefinitely shut down. All we know is that the film was halfway done shooting and that the now infamous “filed complaint” was not directed towards Ansari. It’s a bizarre thing to do, for Fox Searchlight to just shut everything down over a “complaint.” There was almost certainly some sort of sexual harassment or assault against a woman that occurred on the film set. Whatever the merits or particulars, why is a huge commercial movie shutting down over this? Unless a rape occurred, then it is an absolutely ridiculous decision by Fox Searchlight to shut down a movie that was halfway done and with an 8-figure budget. The arrows are already being slung at the film’s star Bill Murray. Why? Because he’s a very brusque and politically incorrect figure, which is why we love him. It would be wholly depressing to find out he’s the cause of the chaos. Page Six is also reporting that the culprit of the complaint is not Seth Rogen. Contribute Hire me
