My expectations are still fairly high for Coen’s film, despite absolutely nobody in the Venice Film Festival committee liking it, neither did Venezia boss Alberto Barbera. They rejected it months before the festival began. That’s a fact. Polanski’s “MacBeth,” still the essential film adaptation, ran at a cozy and necessary 140 minutes.
